According to data reported by the American Community Survey conducted by the Census Bureau, one of the most common jobs held by residents of Norfolk, VA by number of employees in 2019 includes Food Preparation & Serving Related Occupations with 8,169 people.
In addition, data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports in April of 2021 there was a 38.4% increase of employee growth in the Leisure and Hospitality industry in all of Virginia.
Certified kitchen services are required by the health department to operate a legitimate food business.
Unfortunately, there are few certified kitchen services offered in our area to support the growing food industry.
Our current 2600 sq ft facility is the only shared certified kitchen in Norfolk, with the next closest commissary located ten miles away in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
The closest facility offering incubator kitchen options is located approximately one hundred miles away outside of Richmond, Virginia.
We are a commercially-licensed kitchen space for chefs, bakers, caterers, food trucks, food producers under the Virginia Department of Agriculture, and other culinary professionals.
Our company services existing licensed food businesses and start up food businesses. Our model is based on their specific needs and supports the progression of their business growth to ensure their success.

Our first location is a shared-use, commissary kitchen. Our clients pay for a membership, or by the hour, in order to rent out cooking space alongside other food entrepreneurs. They get to share expensive amenities like cold storage, equipment, required disposal, and cleaning supplies.
Our commissary kitchen pays utilities – electricity, contractors, security, sewage, pest control, building codes, and more . Our kitchen has commercial-grade equipment, and maintains and repairs the equipment.
With our professional, shared-use commercial kitchen, our clients join an association of chefs, food producers, food truck owners, caterers, and other like- minded businesses to exchange advice, guidance, and build camaraderie.
Our commercially-licensed, shared kitchen makes it easy for our client's to stay compliant. Our client's have peace of mind knowing we work closely with the health department to maintain the highest standards.
We are working with national programs such as Food Sweep to help our clients save with food costs and Fedex to decrease shipping costs for our members.
Our second location will provide additional services – like incubator kitchens, facilities for food packing and shipping, business center, and demo kitchen– that will expand the possiblities for food businesses in our area.
