Eric Straus is President of Transworld Business Advisors of New York, where he leads the firm’s business brokerage, mergers & acquisitions, and franchise consulting operations across the New York market.
With more than 30 years of direct experience as a buyer, operator, seller, and intermediary of businesses, Eric combines deep transactional expertise with pragmatic insight into owner motivations and market dynamics.
Throughout his career, Eric has successfully guided the sale and acquisition of hundreds of companies across diverse industries, helping business owners maximize value and achieve strategic exits. His experience spans business strategy, marketing, sales optimization, franchise development, and M&A execution, grounded in firsthand entrepreneurial success.
Before leading Transworld’s New York office, Eric built and scaled multiple enterprises, including RegionalHelpWanted.com—a network of locally branded job boards that he sold to PE firm Warburg Pincus in 2008. Prior to that he built, bought, grew and then sold Straus Media Group, a cluster of 10 Hudson Valley, NY radio stations to Clear Channel (now IHeart Media) in 1999.
This entrepreneurial track record enables him to empathize with clients’ operational challenges while applying disciplined deal structuring and valuation methodologies.
At Transworld, Eric oversees client engagement from initial valuation through deal closing, collaborating with strategic buyers, private investors, and franchise partners. He emphasizes confidentiality, competitive positioning, and data-driven pricing strategies to ensure optimal outcomes.
