Ryan Mortensen
Before I sold businesses, I sold the cars people buy after selling their business. For years I worked in Austin's exotic car world. Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche. And here's what that job actually taught me: the car was never the story. The story was the person signing the wire transfer, and it was almost always the same one. "I just sold my company." I had a front-row seat to the single best day of an entrepreneur's life. Eventually I realized I didn't want to meet owners at the finish line. I wanted to be the one who got them there.
Today I'm a business broker with Strategic Business Partners, in affiliation with Transworld Business Advisors of Austin-Waco. I'm currently the top-producing broker in my firm, a title I also held in 2024, the same year Transworld named me Rookie of the Year. But the wins I care about don't fit on a plaque:
The restaurant owner with ten months left on her lease and, in her words, not three months left in her. I found her buyer in two weeks: a young restaurateur who wanted a second location and lived right between the two. SBA financed, closed. She's retired. He's expanding.
The ranch hand who built a land clearing company from a single piece of equipment starting in 2019. Five years later I sold it. He's a millionaire now, raising his family without the weight of the operation on his shoulders.
The bar owner who needed out with something to show for it. The buyer I brought him had worked the door at that same bar 14 years earlier as a bouncer. New owners, new name, thriving today.
The digital marketing founder whose deal couldn't go SBA and needed a cash buyer at $3M. The kind of deal most brokers call unrealistic. I found one. Closed in 21 days.
Notice the pattern: every one of these deals changed two lives. The seller got their freedom. The buyer got their dream. My job is architecting the day both of those close at once.
Here's the truth about selling a business: it's a full-time job. So is running one. You can't do both. The owners who try usually undersell, burn out, or tip off their employees and customers at exactly the wrong moment. That's why I exist. You keep running the business. I sell it. Confidentially, creatively, and fast.
If you've ever wondered what the thing you built is actually worth, that conversation is free, confidential, and carries zero obligation. Most owners just want to know their number. Let's find yours.
