Quarter Two 2018 Market Insight Report

Introduction. The baby boomer tsunami has finally begun which continues to bring record breaking numbers to the business brokerage industry for the first half of 2018. Thus far in 2018, Biz Buy Sell reported a total of 5,383 businesses sold. This number includes the 2,705 Q2 2018 businesses that traded and points towards surpassing the 9,919 transactions for the full year of 2017. Especially, given that more and more baby boomers will be listing stable businesses with quality financials that will be very attractive to potential buyers.

As far as Transworld’s experience in the market, the first half of 2018 has proven to be highly successful. Our brokerage team has already closed 85.4% of the deal volume we closed in 2017 highlighting the high level of activity for the year thus far. We have also seen a greater quantity of financially sound businesses due to the number of baby boomers starting their retirement and these businesses are fully recovered from any effects of the recession.
