Small Business Advocacy

Small Business Advocacy

As a small business, we have built our company on a number of core values that we believe represent how we want to serve our community, how we want to act as professionals, and help us guide our service offerings from a solid foundation. Transworld’s core values are Tenacity, Learn & Grow, Be a Professional, and Small Business Advocacy. Today in honor of the holiday and the upcoming small business Saturday, we would like to jump ahead and take a closer look at our fourth core value of small business advocacy.

As small business advocates we are involved in the community, supporting, and advocating for the success of small businesses in Colorado, whether they are clients or not. We believe that small business is the backbone of the Colorado economy and hope to embolden the small business owner and strengthen the foundation of small business as Colorado grows and evolves!

Transworld Rocky Mountain’s founding partners, Al & Jessica Fialkovich, established Transworld with the mission to provide investment banking level M&A services to small- to mid-sized businesses. After having sold a few of their own small businesses, they felt that good quality, valuable resources were sorely lacking for the small business community. And they knew that with their background they could provide these services from a place of understanding and real passion!

From a bird’s eye view, Transworld helps professionals acquire or exit a small business, but it’s really so much more than that. We have had the privilege of facilitating small business transactions that have a deep effect on people’s lives. For example, Matt Prescott, one of our broker’s built a relationship with a local veteran who acquires businesses and hires other veterans to run them. The owning veteran than provides his employees the coaching needed to successfully manage that business, with the ultimate intention of them buying him out one day.

Another impactful story, I wanted to share took place last year, when Chris Cantwell, one of our business brokers, listed a granite business for sale. Tragically the owner passed away shortly after this occurred. And his wife was left to manage the business on her own in her husband’s absence, but barely knew anything about it and didn’t speak English very well. Chris was able to figure out how to get a deal together quickly, which allowed the wife to move back to Hungary and be with her family.

Being able to support small business owners and the community in their times of need is why we work in this industry. And while not every story we become part of is as momentous as the above, we recognize that buying or selling a business is more than just a numbers game. It’s about people, their lives, and their livelihoods, and we do our best to respect that through our services.
