Selling Your Accounting Practice

Selling Your Accounting Practice

We recently sold one of Raleigh's oldest (35 years) and largest accounting firms. The owner of this firm said that she had always wanted to own her own business and provide the best professional services to her clients and for 35 years she and her team did this exceptionally well!

Finding the buyer for this business sale was pretty easy although the deal structure became a bit nuanced and entangles due to the timing and new management ideas of the buyer. You can imagine my joy when the books were in perfect condition which is rarely the case in many of the businesses that we represent.

Selling an accounting firm, for the most part, is one of the easiest to find buyers for. Most accountants understand multiples and how they apply to their industry so there isn't a lot of rangling over accurate market pricing. Most accountants, when the time is right for them to sell, they are really motivated to exit.
